the greens!

 

hello all!!

pretty long absense huh.. anyway, i've started my South Beach Diet Program.. lets just see, what happens after 2 weeks Wink

so.. the first phase of this diet actually prohibits one from carbs (rice, potato, pasta, bread...) and fruits.. so.. i survived so far! 2 days.. hehe AND BEST IS... i can feel a wheee bit difference at the waist line..

so.. for dinner, its ... er... shrimps and broccoli and an egg, with veges
HEY!!! IT TASTED GOOD !!! trust me.. its the nicest 'meat-less, rice-less, pasta-less' meal i made...

looks ok right ?? ahhaha

tada!!

simple recipe

5-7 shrimps
a few chunks of brocolli
plum tomato, quatered
few leaves of baby butterhead
3 button mushrooms, sliced
1 egg, hard boiled
1/2 lemon
olive oil
salt and pepper

First, boil the egg. Then, sautee the shrimps, mushrooms and broccoli in a pan with little oil. add some salt n pepper to taste (optional i guess). when it's almost done, squeeze some lemon juice into it.. just a lil.

serve with the baby butterhead and plum tomatoes

Kafe Fondue House

 

we finally step foot on the famous Fondue House in Desa Sri Hartamas.

Fondue (pronounced "fon-doo") comes from the French verb fondre, which means "to melt". This delicious and entertaining custom of dipping chunks of crusty bread into a steaming pot of melted cheese originated in Switzerland and more specifically in the Canton of Neuchatel.

The dish consists of several cheeses that is melted with wine and a bit of flour and served communally out of a pot called a caquelon. Long forks are used by each guest to spear a cube/slice of bread and then dipped into the cheese and eaten.

Besides cheese fondue, there is also chocolate desert fondue, which was invented by the Americans. It is said to have originated from a Swiss chocolate manufacturer who was demonstrating how its products could be melted and served with pieces of fruits, cake and cookies.

We took our luck on the Cheese Mushroom Fondue. Actually it's recommended by our friends because, apparently, they've been there a couple of times. We ordered the original cheese fondue as well with Lamb Cutlets and Seafood Platter

ok.. first thought, u might think it wont be filling.. but i guess it is, maybe cause i kept filling myself with water (i was darn darn darn hot..)

the original plain cheese fondue was a bit sour, maybe because it was melted with wine.. the mushroom one was fantabulous!!!

the chocolate fondue was great.. but just that, if the strawberries could be sweeter =)

so, definitely a place to check out.. would be back for a second visit Wink

Pasta Marinara

 

A decent meal may give a different definition to different people. To certain people, it means the traditional chinese homecook meal with 3 dishes and a soup. To certain people, it may mean the McD's Value Meals, which sound decent enough to a lesser extent of not burning a hole in your pocket.

But to me, the lazy YeeMei, who even have to think twice considering cooking Maggi Mee when she is hungry because she thinks its kinda troublesome, pasta marinara is decent enough. At least decent enough to feed my family. And at least, i didnt use the readymade pasta sauce ok! I bought tomato puree and of coz, with god knows what spices i added to the sauce since i was in a mess and panic when it comes to cooking. Haha..that's me...opppss..

Well, let's see. I boiled the pasta...

Well, at least to me, yes! I considered myself completed one task from my to-do-list before uni commences next monday!...Well, lots more to go...*scratches head*

Buffet at Neway Karaoke

Ever heard of Neway Karaoke? Well, frankly, this is my 1st encounter too but it is definitely better than Redbox and the buffet dinner was soo good! And definitely worth the money. Less than rm50 per pax and you can eat all you can and sing as much as you wish.

There was a great variety of food; japanese sashimi and sushi, pasta, vegetarians, dimsums, noodles+rices and lotsa lotsa side dishes and desserts - cakes, tarts, puddings, hot/cold desserts! Well, lets look at some pictures.

Note that, we carried trays of food! But this was only the first round. Well, that's how buffets are meant to be right?

If you ever wanna go for a buffet, this place is worth checking out! By the way, i forgot to mention that Neway Karaoke is located in Berjaya Times Square, KL. Somewhere near Teppanyaki Restaurant on the 4th floor. Happy Hunting!

Valentine's at Gardini

 

Being singletons, we were never shamed but proud to cheer our singlehoods. By tradition, we celebrated our simple Valentine's at Gardini Cafe located at the Garden Business Park, Klang. Yes, it was a very simple dinner to cheer singlehoods of the group of 6 of us. Namely, me, Sweesan, Melisa, Shanker, Kelvin and Steffan.

Gardini is not a new cafe in Klang but probably not well known by most people due to its location. Its quite hidden, i would say. But it is situated next to a rather well-known japanese restaurant in Klang known as Funa Suzhi. Despite its hidden location, i still love the ambience of the cafe. I've been a loyal customer to this cafe but lately, i haven been hanging out there until this Valentine's.

Formerly, the cafe served only drinks and snacks but you can order japanese foods from next door because both the cafe and restaurant are owned by the same owner. However, the new menu never failed to impress us with the beautiful pictures of foodies that are enough to make you drool on the menu as well as complicating the decisions on what to order especially the side orders!

Nevertheless, we - me, Sweesan and Melisa ended up with Grilled Fish, Japanese Teriyaki Chicken Chop and Chicken Chop with Garlic Sauce respectively.

The Grilled Fish was good! But i couldnt figure out what the yellowish sauce was. It doesnt taste lemony or garlic-ie. Its still good anyway...

The Japanese Teriyaki Chicken Chop was not bad as well but a lil salty.

I just realised that i forgot to try Melisa's Chicken Chop with Garlic Sauce. So i cant judge the taste. Let's leave this to Mel....

We didnt take photographs of the drinks but the Oreo Chocolate Frappe was good..i love chocs and how can anything with chocolate or oreo be bad, right? Oh, the Vanilla Frappe was very good as well. Taste abit like the McD's Sundae Cone but of coz, it's way better. Moreover, this is ice-blended not milkshake!..

Im sorry, i tend to compare everything with McD last night but i had a good night with you guys.

Finally, a tip from me...Guys out there, i really mean G-U-Y...as in LELAKI ! Be sure to wink at the waiters...You never know when you'll get a free dinner!

RT Pastry House

 

Dont worry, we didnt lose our way somewhere. We were just busy with CNY around and friends' farewells, birthdays and all sort. So we didnt have much time to blog about new kitchen try-outs. In fact, there is no need to cook during CNY! The amount of food is enough to keep you survive probably a month or two.

Anyway, here's this new bakery located in SS15. Not exactly very new. It has been there for quite some time. Somewhere near the Public Bank and is just situated next to the Ipoh White Coffee.

Yup, it is known as the RT Pastry House and I would say that it is quite japan-esh. Oh, I love the bread from there and the appearance of the cakes are enough to keep you drooling the whole time! And the bread, I couldnt make up my mind which one should i get! I think i might make it a mission to try a new bread each time i go there. Probably i could drop by there on my way to uni. Hurmph *I'll turn to a bread or bun by the time i graduate*

By the way, i didnt got myself any fancy breads today. Just a simple Garlic Loaf but its tasty. Similarly to French Loaf, the crust is hard but the bread inside is soft and i can still smell the garlic in my mouth now! Beware...no kissing after indulging this! Haha...

And another closer look....

Well, previously i tried the red bean cinnamon roll as well and its really good! Check it out! Everything looks so good in the bakery!

One special feature of the shop is that you can actually see those young bakers working. You can see how they make those breads/buns/cakes/biscuits and it is rather inspiring. For a moment, i nearly wanted to go to Giant to get ingredients to make bread! and of coz, i didnt! Thank goodness! Otherwise, it would be a total disaster.

Nevertheless, this is a place worth checking out!

desaru eateries

i know i know... it's been 2 long long weeks!!!

we've been quite busy with CNY.. n work n uni..

so.. lets get back.. i was in Desaru beach from 1st to 3rd Feb with my family.. to read / view more.. please head to my blog Wink

 

it's called gong-gong.. like a type of snail.. quite nice...

grilled Norweigan Salmon with lemon butter sauce.. was just fantabulous.. even better after playing in the beach and the pool... small portion, uterly HUGE plate. nvm, the sauce was really good.. expected more sauce tho..

this is -i forgot the name- .. IT"S NOT a FAT caterpillar altho it looks like.. anyway, it's called Noni fruit or something...

a not-so-ripe Breadfruit... pls google it, i dont know what's it =P

its not cactus-flower!!! it's a dragonfruit-to-be

guess what!! it's the dragon fruit flower!! amazing huh?!?!Shades

not riped dragonfruit.. (i adore dragonfruit.. the white-fleshed one..)

now it looks like a dragonfruit eh ?? this one's almost riped i guess..

and guesse what !! this is the dragonfruit tree!! it's of the same famly as cactus actually.. and... it's easy to grow... u can even try it in your own backyard!!

*ahaha.. sorry, i was just amazed by the dragonfruit.. from the tree, to the fruit.. everything!!*

this is honey rose apple.. u know.. jambu air.. it'll probably take some time to bloom to a big honey rose apple!
