Place : MOVEN PARK Location: Greentown, Ipoh Cuisine : Fusion Price : +/- RM20 *this is the continuation of my 1st entry..hehe.. During my visit to Ipoh, we had our dinner at this place called MOVEN PARK which is really great. You can feel a great vibe of people there. The restaurant or cafe...hmm..i cant actually categorized it in a right category..cos the premise is quite big which pretty much look like a restaturant..but at the same time the mood of the place were more like those of a cafe...hmm... On first impression the place looks REALLY beautiful...With the lights n the nice songs in the air... It's a double-storey premise which look like a banglo lot being transformed into a food galore ..haha..It has an indoor n outdoor section..which is really brilliant. The overall decor of the place is stunningly beautiful, especially the outdoor section which we sat. It has alil of Jap-garden like plus alil of ethnicity in the design..thats how i look at it..n even d toilet design is cool too..haha.. Despite the light showers that nite, we decided to take the outdoor section... K back to the main course..I guess one of the main attraction or rather specialty of the food i
n MOVEN PARK is its STEAMBOAT..they have individual steamboat or buffet style..However, if you open up the menu, there's more to just steamboat..there's a great fusion of food and drinks... up for offer..N we were smiling to ourselves when we happen to see..ALCHOLIC drinks being served too..There was cocktails, wine, liquor, beer..u name it n they have it all there..As for the food, you can get Chinese dishes n Western stuff.. We ordered cocktails..hehe..
Oh..i got so carried away that i forgot that we had a superb appetizer too..FAT, JUICY, SUCCULENT
**I would love to tempt you guys with more DELICIOUS dish..but sadly..we didnt take enough pics of it..**
Oh...we had a cake too..cos the dinner was a celebration for me n joyce's birthday..even d cake
is so...heavenly...it made a really great dessert for the night...
That's about all the pix i have for MOVEN PARK..It is a definite must to dine-in here...
if you appear to be anywhere nearby this area..Or you will miss the fun..food..frenzy
of this heaven..
Terrific place for friends n family to chill out with great cuisine all night...with the almost perfect atmosphere..NO REGRETS..i'll give this place a 4.5/5.. Why isn't there places like this in KLANG!!!hmm...mayb there is but im not aware of it.. KEEP DROOLING PEEPS!!! **THE END** -mel- |

Loh mee has become one of my favourite lunch..
if i'm at home.. or i'd go for cheap lunch with friends ..
i'd head to this place in Jalan Melawis in Klang
they have the best loh mee i've ever eaten.. and it's not easy to find loh mee in pj..
em.. well.. as in .. among the pj areas i've been.. ahaha.. they have Lam mee or .. pan mee.. but not Loh Mee... there seems to be a different type of loh mee in penang n kl.. and klang ..
some are like lam mee .. more starch.. and more dark soy sauce ..
but anyway.. this is klang's type of loh mee
i do not have the recipe.. but.. as far as i know (from looking at how the aunty cooks)
first she boils the anchovies soup.. adds pork bits and chinese mushroom
then she adds in mee (the yellowish type)
well some other ppl do order loh yi mee (fried), loh chi mee (like pan mee) ..
then she adds in pepper, light soya sauce and thick/dark soya sauce..and black VINEGAR
then some vegetable...
then she pre-mix water with flour (i'm not sure if it's corn or tapioca) ..
but the purpose of it is to make it thick and sticky
then.. cracks 1 egg .. n stir it well ..
n tada.. it's done ..
and u know.. that row of shops ... has 3 shops that has some really goooood food
first is the loh mee shop.. other that loh mee. their mee hun kueh is really good
then there's a curry laksa shop.. nice too!!
and anohter one selling home made egg tarts .. mamamiaaa ..
the egg tart they sell there's really good.. cause the crust is just nice ..
crunchy.. but doesnt fall to pieces after your first bite ..
at the same time .. ti's not soggy too .. sometimes .. some of the crust is abit wet
however.. there're 3 different types of crust .. one.. is the flaky outer crust ... which are sold in most Dim Sum Restaurant.. two.. the pie crust .. three.. the portugese type .. there are a few shops that sell nice egg tarts ...
1 is .. in IPOH .. u can never doubt ipoh's egg tart..
i ate in a dim sum restaurant called Ming Court (i think)
2.. this shop in Melawis..
3.. can't recall now ..
now .... if this is a hong kong styled dessert / dimsum .. how come ... how come they never serve any in Kim Gary.... mmm ... *contented with lunch + tea* back to work.. *cries* |

I went to Ipoh with a couple of friends few weekends back.. N we spent alot of quality time..doing what everyone does best EATING...haha... There's 2 place in particular which i think has superb food..So here goes.. NOTE: The pictures taken werent intended for this blog entry much earlier ...so pls dont screw me for the poor snapshots..hehe... n there'll probably be more words than pics.. #1 OLD TOWN KOPITIAM Cuisine: Mostly buns & coffee Rating: 4/5 for a kopitiam Take a peek at the signboard..
I cant recall the exact location of this kopitiam... So hope this signboard will help..haha..oh..n d price is really within anyone's budget..hehe
Lets start with the interior...
D cafe is nicely decorated with furnitures, paintings n other stuff which will remind you that you are sitting in a kopitiam.. a modern one tho..it gives you a feeling that you are in the past..f ew decades back..brilliant..even d cups they use are real kopitiam style.. D Downside, mayb its alil cramp n warm... Food...food...food..
If u take a peek in the menu,
u mostly see buns n coffees in a wide variety... We odered lots of them to share...
Altho d presentation is nothing shout about. The yumminess of this simple foods will unfold when you take your very 1st bite...haha..D POLO BUN & D KAYA+BUTTER TOAST especially... there's a slap of butter in it...When you take your very 1st bite, the feeling of the smooth butter melting on your tongue..haha.. it drove me crazy for more...Both the buns were crunchy too... n felt like it just came out of the oven... As for the TOAST BREAD WITH CURRY CHICKEN..its another masterpiece... Im sure alot of us out there enjoy dipping bread into curry n eatin them.. So sum smart fella in this cafe is so brilliant to come out with this serving... d crunchy toast...n d hot but not so spicy curry...yum yum.. definitely a must have...I think im starting to drool al over again... The plus side about the toast in this cafe is u notice...its BROWN..unique?? Enough said bout the buns...time to flatter d drinks a little... if you were to ask me...But anyway, d drinks r really nice too... D beautiful aroma of white coffee...haha... I think the white coffee works best for me compared to the other 2 coffees in the top pic...u can really taste d difference between those original ipoh white coffee n those in other places...mmm....
OLDTOWN KOPITIAM's stuff..hehe... must visit there when u peeps r in ipoh...ill get more details on d location... more to come...*to be continued* -miao-

hi all.. I was curiously hopping thru each and every (almost) foodblog that i saw.. then i came to read that they do have food-blog events.. like the one i just saw in Emily's La Dolce Vita. She did the In The Pink food event to create awareness for Breast Cancer. was quite interesting. the bloggers that participated cooked or baked something in pink
and she did a round-up for it .. so do check out..
and then i dropped by Cathy's my little kitchen to see that she's hosting the Blogging By Mail 3.
It's actually bloggers swapping 'food or recipes or anything listed' to one another.
then they have to post up an entry about what the blogger swapped..
and of course what u sent as well
so this time around.. the theme of the event's Home for the Holidays
....."I propose that this time around your package include some or all of the following:
A Food Section from your local paper A grocery store flyer from a store where you shop A photo of your kitchen A favorite holiday recipe A food item made from a family recipe (and the recipe!) A handwritten note from you explaining a bit about the package contents, telling about an important holiday for your family and your traditions for that holiday, and telling about your plans for the upcoming holiday season...." and so .. i signed up for it.. ahha ... it'll be fun thinking of what to send .. and thinking of what u'll get. .ahhaha be sure to check out the link on the left.. there're some worthy n fantastic foodblogs.. there's a whole lota stuffs.. some of the locals ones are Masak-Masak, MalaysiaBest by 5xmom, MakanSakan and Yummy Corner celebrity chefs : Jamie Oliver and Kylie Kwong my current fave is .. she who eats.. actually.. i like them all.. ahhahaha ciao... |
yay! i'm first. yeah cause miss yeemei is too busy with her assignments and test... then we ordered Penang Villate Nasi Lemakwhile me ? no need to say much. i'm plain lazy. bah. so.. first review hah.. hope it'll be interesting .. Place : Penang Village Restaurant At : Taipan & Tmn Tun Cuisine : Nyonya / Malay unfortunately, we went during tea time around 3pm .. so the menu's abit different it's written Tea-Break Menu (with limited food) so maybe they have more food during lunch and dinner. For appetizer, we ordered the Penang Village Pie-Tie presented nicely. the filling was something like.. pohpia filling, with crabstick meat, cashewnut..
rating : 3.5 / 5 (i think the pie-tie in chicken rice shop is nicer ...) *yeemei agrees with sweesan!*
nicely presented again. the rice was moulded in a square shape served with Rendang Chicken, Prawn and Sambal of course. and ... that vege thing... which i dont know what's the name of it.. hahaha Rating: *let yeemei do the job* yeemei thinks that the nasi lemak is rather nice...give it a 4/5
almost the same as the nasi lemak but my rice was moulded in a cone shape and i had rendang chicken, a few pieces of malay-styled lobak, popadum and the sour vege thingy Rating: 4/5 (everything was good but maybe they should give more rendang or sambal or something)
so the 2-shop-lots restaurant looked very empty except for out table and other workers. and... cause of that .. we got a limited choices of food to pick ... Other food listed in the menu are like.. Kuey Teow Soup, Fishball noodle.. alil bit chinese food there as well.. but nevertheless, we're quite satisfied with our food.. yeah cause we were darrrnnn hungry before that.. |
