Finally made my step into the Ramadhan mood. Wait! I am not puasa-ing! I am not a Muslim! Nevertheless, for the love of good foodies, i made my step to the Ramadhan market where you could see a great variety of Malay food. Being ulu, i have not tried many food. In fact, staple Malay food like Nasi Briyani and Nasi Kandar are rather strange to me. If you would to ask me how they taste like, I really couldnt answer u. I would most probably think they taste like Nasi Lemak because that is the only Malay rice i have eaten most in my entire life. Damn! i am very ulu! However, my uluness was not shown on my face and i gladly made my entry to the Ramadhan market; diffusing into the crowd although in my heart, i am one big Ulu. Take a look at what me and sweesan, also not forgetting one of my fren, found in the PJ Section 14 Ramadhan market: ![]() Looking yummy huh? Introducing Mr. Ayam Percik ![]() Sotong-Sotong and Ikan-Ikan Bakar-Bakar ..AHahaha... ![]() Miss Kuih with coconut head topping ![]() ![]() Look at how the Makcik prepared Roti Jala ...seems very hebat right? ![]() Nasi Tomato...rather curious ![]() Very colourful Kuih Muih ![]() ![]() The dishes served with Nasi Briyani ![]() Otak-Otak..I think the Panjang one nicer than Ketul one... Well, i guess that is all about the Ramadhan Market. Will try to head towards more Ramadhan Market. Heard that the ss18 Ramadhan Market in Subang is good as well. Perhaps, another attempt? p/s : Swee's additional comments.. ahhaha well personally i think the food they sell there are not really like .. WOW !! or .. super nice.. it looks nice althought.. i bought the ayam percik, roti jala, samosa, nasi briyani.. yeah.. (for my family ok..) well maybe i went to the wrong stall or something but it ddint really reach to my expectations.. the puasa market is a nice place / chance to be exposed by all sorts of malay foods.. they have basically most of the things (except i couldnt find mr. nasi lemak) .. it is a good eye-opener for people like me who dont go that often.. (this is not my first time tho..) but taste wise.. maybe because they cook in huge quantity.. and they have to prepare the food earlier so that when the crowd comes.. it's more convenient.. but em... some of the taste was somehow.. a lil bit off.. so.. yeah.. taht's about it ... |
This is my very first entry in this blog or rather in any blogsite. So mark down this moment of victory. hehe...anyway, here i am to blog about the very first omelette in my life. Let me tell u something, i have never actually made any egg-ie foodie in my life except for boiled eggs because they are easy and u dont have to cook them using oil *Im afraid of oil!* By the way, i think my omelette was a success. Kinda proud of myself actually for starting the stove to pouring the oil, heat it and fried the egg! OMG! i nearly cant believe what i had done. I am not exaggerating but as much as i like cooking, the idea of frying food is still scary to me. Imagine the oil splashing on ur hand? Hurts right? I have this experience, a rather silly one and perhaps, it was such a disgrace. I accidentally dipped my finger into the hot oil when i was frying onion ring! My finger was probably cooked - maybe. *shakes head to myself* Nevertheless, one fine morning, with courage and bravery, i decided to make omelette. A good one! for a good start of the day. Do not look down on omelette, i woke up 45 minutes earlier to prepare but i ended up spending nearly 2 hrs! So i have concluded - Omelette is not an easy task! Look at what i have got to make my very first omelette: ![]() Slice crabsticks, sausages and button mushrooms ![]() Egg with milk With the ingredients, i started the fire and next: ![]() Looked fine, right? Then, i waited awhile - thinking what to do next? I was busy taking pictures actually. Haha... ![]() This was my very first omelette. Doesnt look so pretty huh? Anyway, it was down in my brother's tummy and most probably, flushed down to the Pacific Ocean already. AHahaha... I wasnt too satisfied so i tried again n made my second and third omelette: ![]() Note that there were two of them. I think i made quite an improvement huh? and a rather quick one right? -yeemei- |
the last time i made carbonara was ... new years eve last year.. so.. almost 10 month !! wow.. thats pretty long because the carbonara in danny n partners cafe is good enough.. and i didnt wanted to make any.. i just resolved to making .. tomato-paste pasta.. so.. my brother thought me how to make carbonara when we went to australia last year.. but.. u know almost a year and i can hardly remember the proportions of the ingredienst.. all i remember was. eggs cheese milk butter pasta salt + pepper garlic .. and that's probably what i used today.. with additional sliced ham and button mushrooms.. and i used the bow-tie pasta.. which was really cute.. ahaha
i normally just get spagetti, fettucinne or tortellini (the spiral twists thingy)
i still want to try and make fresh ravioli with chicken and tuna.. or.. well.. just anything that i have..
but it'll take quite some time for me to make the fresh pasta.. kinda hungry already.. so i just made.. carbonara..
em.. the creamy sauce was ok.. but the egg went too cooked...
i turned off the fire.. and then only added eggs.. but er.. still too hot i guess...
maybe tomato-based paste works better.. ahhahaha
but.. fun try anyway ...
apple juice with crunchy aloe vera bits.. yummy.. got it while grocery shopping yesterday... yeah so my freezer is filled with fries, onion rings, nuggets... ahahahhaha.. almost got the hash browns.. but.. well.. already bought so much other things.. so.. keep em for next time .. oh yeah... this apple juice.. works really well with sprite and a slice of lemon.. la la la la la ~~~ *burppp* |

Place : MOVEN PARK Location: Greentown, Ipoh Cuisine : Fusion Price : +/- RM20 *this is the continuation of my 1st entry..hehe.. During my visit to Ipoh, we had our dinner at this place called MOVEN PARK which is really great. You can feel a great vibe of people there. The restaurant or cafe...hmm..i cant actually categorized it in a right category..cos the premise is quite big which pretty much look like a restaturant..but at the same time the mood of the place were more like those of a cafe...hmm... On first impression the place looks REALLY beautiful...With the lights n the nice songs in the air... It's a double-storey premise which look like a banglo lot being transformed into a food galore ..haha..It has an indoor n outdoor section..which is really brilliant. The overall decor of the place is stunningly beautiful, especially the outdoor section which we sat. It has alil of Jap-garden like plus alil of ethnicity in the design..thats how i look at it..n even d toilet design is cool too..haha.. Despite the light showers that nite, we decided to take the outdoor section... K back to the main course..I guess one of the main attraction or rather specialty of the food i
n MOVEN PARK is its STEAMBOAT..they have individual steamboat or buffet style..However, if you open up the menu, there's more to just steamboat..there's a great fusion of food and drinks... up for offer..N we were smiling to ourselves when we happen to see..ALCHOLIC drinks being served too..There was cocktails, wine, liquor, beer..u name it n they have it all there..As for the food, you can get Chinese dishes n Western stuff.. We ordered cocktails..hehe..
Oh..i got so carried away that i forgot that we had a superb appetizer too..FAT, JUICY, SUCCULENT
**I would love to tempt you guys with more DELICIOUS dish..but sadly..we didnt take enough pics of it..**
Oh...we had a cake too..cos the dinner was a celebration for me n joyce's birthday..even d cake
is so...heavenly...it made a really great dessert for the night...
That's about all the pix i have for MOVEN PARK..It is a definite must to dine-in here...
if you appear to be anywhere nearby this area..Or you will miss the fun..food..frenzy
of this heaven..
Terrific place for friends n family to chill out with great cuisine all night...with the almost perfect atmosphere..NO REGRETS..i'll give this place a 4.5/5.. Why isn't there places like this in KLANG!!!hmm...mayb there is but im not aware of it.. KEEP DROOLING PEEPS!!! **THE END** -mel- |

Loh mee has become one of my favourite lunch..
if i'm at home.. or i'd go for cheap lunch with friends ..
i'd head to this place in Jalan Melawis in Klang
they have the best loh mee i've ever eaten.. and it's not easy to find loh mee in pj..
em.. well.. as in .. among the pj areas i've been.. ahaha.. they have Lam mee or .. pan mee.. but not Loh Mee... there seems to be a different type of loh mee in penang n kl.. and klang ..
some are like lam mee .. more starch.. and more dark soy sauce ..
but anyway.. this is klang's type of loh mee
i do not have the recipe.. but.. as far as i know (from looking at how the aunty cooks)
first she boils the anchovies soup.. adds pork bits and chinese mushroom
then she adds in mee (the yellowish type)
well some other ppl do order loh yi mee (fried), loh chi mee (like pan mee) ..
then she adds in pepper, light soya sauce and thick/dark soya sauce..and black VINEGAR
then some vegetable...
then she pre-mix water with flour (i'm not sure if it's corn or tapioca) ..
but the purpose of it is to make it thick and sticky
then.. cracks 1 egg .. n stir it well ..
n tada.. it's done ..
and u know.. that row of shops ... has 3 shops that has some really goooood food
first is the loh mee shop.. other that loh mee. their mee hun kueh is really good
then there's a curry laksa shop.. nice too!!
and anohter one selling home made egg tarts .. mamamiaaa ..
the egg tart they sell there's really good.. cause the crust is just nice ..
crunchy.. but doesnt fall to pieces after your first bite ..
at the same time .. ti's not soggy too .. sometimes .. some of the crust is abit wet
however.. there're 3 different types of crust .. one.. is the flaky outer crust ... which are sold in most Dim Sum Restaurant.. two.. the pie crust .. three.. the portugese type .. there are a few shops that sell nice egg tarts ...
1 is .. in IPOH .. u can never doubt ipoh's egg tart..
i ate in a dim sum restaurant called Ming Court (i think)
2.. this shop in Melawis..
3.. can't recall now ..
now .... if this is a hong kong styled dessert / dimsum .. how come ... how come they never serve any in Kim Gary.... mmm ... *contented with lunch + tea* back to work.. *cries* |
