Banana Walnut basic muffins

i think i'm starting to get addicted to cupcakes / muffins..
i find them cute and the baking time is shorter...

this ones very easy and simple to make.. there isnt much ingredients.. just the basic ones..
i did not make the topping for it... but i included the recipe n ingredients for the topping so that u can make it if u want. :)

well anyway here's the recipe first..

2 cups (300g) self-raising flour
1cup (150g) plain flour
1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
1 cup (200g) firmly packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups (375ml) milk
3/4 cup (180ml) vegetable oil

1 cup mashed overripe banana
1 cup (120g) finely chopped walnuts

Topping
1/4 cup(50h) firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 cup (35g) plain flour
40g butter

banana walnut muffin

Preheat oven to moderately hot (180-190 C). Grease muffin pans.
Sift dry ingredients into large bowl, stir in combined eggs, milk and oil.
Stir banana and half of the walnuts into the muffin mixture. Sprinkle muffins with remaining walnuts and topping.
For topping, combine sugar and flour in small bowl; rub in butter
Bake in moderately hot oven about 20 minutes

Makes: 30 (depending on size of muffin cups..)

i did not make the topping.. so i just added icing sugar ontop ...
and one of them came up VERY HIGH . eheheh
see.. compared to the others..hahaha..

next time u can roast the walnut first before adding it to the mixture.. just like cook it with a lil butter or something... i think with choco chips .. would be perfect.. hahahahaha

(anything with chocolate will be nice.. haha)

this recipe is super easy!!! and if u wanna substitute the banana walnut mixture to something else..
u can add apple with cinnamon ...
or blueberry.. as u wish.. hehehe ...

went to 1 Utama with fellow friend Mel

we decided to have lunch at Dome Cafe .. yeah..
so yeah...

i was hopping to eat the pie.. but they told me there isnt any pie for thatday .. pfff
so yeah we surfed thru the menu and see if there's any other stuffs to eat ..

mel saw this and decided to order it..
so she had Soup, Spicy Chicken & Mushroom PAsta and Iced Lemon tea

mushroom soup

melisa enjoying her soup.. yummm

the mushroom soup was great .. it's made of assorted mushrooms thats' why the taste is very .. mushroom-y.. it's thick and great in flavour ... thumbs up .. yay!

this was the Spicy Chicken & Mushroom Pasta
Chicken and mushroom in a spicy n creamy sauce served with Linguine
em.. to be honest.. there wasn't much taste.. it's kinda stale and blend..
not spicy too ...
maybe the mushroom soup was too strong and it covered the taste of this.. but em.. still there wasnt much taste ...
thumbs down!

then because there wasnt any pie.. i asked the waiter to reccomend .. so he suggested Herb Crust Chicken. so.. ok.. i ordered.. hahaha.. with Cranberry Cooler

waited for quite some time the my food .. i was darn hungry already  =.=

cranberry cooler
Cranberry Cooler - Cranberry Juice, Apple Juice & Sprite

herb crust chicken
surprise surprise.. the chicken's in heart shape!! hahaha

closer look.. haha.. cute leh ..

it's Chicken breast coated with herbs and spices. Served with pasta, chili salsa and sauteed vegetables ... yummy-licious.. thumbs up .. it was good that the herbs flavour wasnt that strong or else i'll be jelak by it.. the pasta was ok.. the chicken was nicely done.. breast meat.. u know some times it can get to dry.. but i was good.. the only thing wrong with it was the chilli salsa thingy.. it went a lil too salty.. haha... the sauteed brocolli were nice. soft n tender.. har har har .. i like broccolis if theyre not too hard .. i like the ones in Dome and Ikea Cafe. :P

eating happily.. hahaha

so yeah... dining at dome could be quite costly sometimes .. but the food was good... heh ... and the environment's very relaxing ... ha.. i've sure u've been to Dome before la..

ok so we went jalan jalan at some places ...
hopped into MPH.. i was looking for the How To Be a Domestic Goddess by Nigella Lawson but they seemed to be out of stock pppfff =_=
but i saw Nigella Bites by .. Nigella Lawson lah of course ..
i was comparing it with some of Jamie Olivers cookbook ..
in the end i bought Nigella Bites because the dishes were simpler and the ingredients were easier to get here ... compared to Jamie Olivers Happy Days and other titles ...
but Nigella Bites was rather costly.. RM 119... =.=" ..... ppfffff

and then because women's weekly mini cookbook were having some promotion . buy 2 free 1 . .so i bought 2 .. and mel bought another 1 .. so it's only RM5.30 per book.. hahaha cheap ?! yes ...

nigella lawson
cookbooooooooks... *bows*

so came back.. helped mum to prepare dinner ..
made grilled chicken wings.. :P

i added a few slices of oranges at the bottom of the chicken wings.. and then because they were marinated a few days ago... i didnt quite add other sttuffs.. just added some bbq sauce, olive oil and rosemary before putting it into the oven..
u can actually BBQ your chicken on top of Oranges, Lemons or PassionFruits... then it'll add some summery zing to it.. hahaha

then my mum made honey lemon chicken

ha ... nice ?

another mouth-watering entry coming up ..
we went to Sekinchan to eat .. haha... well... next time!

The Story of Just Heavenly and Myself

Since every single entry of this blog is all about makan makan and minum minum, its time to make a difference. Im sure it would be interesting to know how this blog started and so here it goes.

It started spontaneously on one fine night; probably one fine midnight when i was rushing and over-working my assignments while Ms Sweesan was online and we simple suggested that we should start a blog on food since we enjoy trying out new food at new places.

However, as time progresses, I started to realise that this is not merely 'Just Heavenly' but a place where i truly share my joy and passion on food and happiness.

Im 20 and im at midst of my final exam and im tired of my current life because i dont find joy in what im currently doing now. I felt tremendous change in me and i think i almost lost my true self.

Im 20; and
i love red bean and anything with red bean is good
i have never eaten ladies fingers in my life and i cant imagine how it tastes like
i dont like eating chilli because its spicy and it makes me tear
i love chupa chap because eating chupa chap makes me feel happy and giving chupa chap to people is a mean of spreading love and joy to people
i can laugh over a small matter for hours and even worse, i can laugh at the way you laugh at me
i do not know how to cross road so dont leave me behind
i have problem differentiating left and right
i always lose my way; you name it and it could be anywhere
i love rainbows and i believe in making wishes under the rainbow
i love watching cartoons and please dont bring me for horror movies

Although i am not a big achiever in many aspects but i truly love myself for what i am and i never demand for any changes despite the fact that im being laughed over many times. I know its ok because im happy for being a simple and ordinary girl.
For the past one year, i feel i aged - alot. I feel as though i have gaven up alot in my life to race back what i have probably lost over the years. Now, i have come to a point where i realise that what i have given up is probably what i am yearning for in my life. Probably competition and big big achievement in life are just not my style. I am just a girl who yearns for simple life. I am not a very ambitious person. My humble ambition is just to be happy and i am just as simple as this. Really~

Sometimes, it makes me wonder if this is worth all the sacrifices because i feel distances away from my true self. Over the past one year, i realise i have grown so much - mentally. I became a tougher girl who doesnt trust people around me easily; exception to those good friends that i am comfortable with. Sometimes, i really miss being naive.
Thank god i still have friends who stand by my side, cheer up and ease my stress. If it wasnt for them, i do not know if i would still be here to be the same me anymore.

Well, this started as a food blog but I shall say that this is not just merely a food blog. This is where laughters and joys are spreaded and good moments are being shared together. Truly, i would say that this is where i feel like myself again - the old simple, ordinary and blur I.

Here's some flashbacks moments shared among dearest friends:

Orange and Honey Tea Bread

yum.. time for a change.. no cakes no muffins

this time tea bread...

here's the recipe

385g plain flour
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
30g butter/margarine
250ml clear honey
1 egg, at room temp., lightly beaten
1 1/2 tablespoons grated orange rind
175ml freshly squeezed orange juice
115g walnuts, chopped (i added raisins instead)

Preheat oven at 170 C / 325 F

Sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.

Line the bottom and sides of a 9 x 5" (23 x 13cm) loaf tin with greaseproof paper and grease.

With an electric mixer, cream the butter/margarine until soft. stir in the honey until blended, then stir in the egg. Add the orange rind and stir to combine thoroughly

Fold the flour mixture into the honey and egg mixture in 3 batches, alternating with the orange juice. Stir in the walnuts.

Pour into the tin and bake until a skewer inserted in the centre comes out clean, 60-70 minutes. Let stand 10 minutes before turning out onto a rack to cool.

15 minutes passed..

30 mins later...

almost almost .. 15 minutes more..

yay.. 1 hour later.. :P

bread
yummmyyy

mm.. to say that it's 100% a bread.. i dont think so..
cause there isnt any yeast in the recipe.. but well
it tasted like bread-cake..
there's abit of bitter taste maybe because of the orange rind..
i've used orange rinds quite a number of times before and it always gives me a bittery after-taste...

and em.. there wasnt alot of orange taste... maybe next time i should get the juice thru the machine.. rather than using my hands to squeeze them.. not much different ain't it?
maybe i should try on peel-fresh ? hrm.. i dont know ..

the honey was somehow an alternative for the sugar.. so this tea-bread is not sweet but yet u can taste a lil bit of honey and ti's not stale... ahahah

alright...

ciao

Kopitiam Style Part Two

Ms Melisa has posted the part one of kopitiam style shop in Ipoh, Ms Yeemei is here to post an entry of Kopitiam Style Restaurant in Bukit Tinggi, Klang.

Ms Yeemei went lunch-ing with Ms Sweesan one fine afternoon at Pak Li located in Bukit Tinggi Klang.

Interior of Pak Li

After eating half way through, we suddenly remember that we should take a picture

We also ordered Fried Rice

Well, the bread was rather small.. i mean really small. We expected it to be bigger but it turned out...expectedly small. Probably too small for our appetite. My advise is order extra set of toast. Oh ya, the bread is brownish in color probably bcoz its made of coffee.

About the fried rice, its not salty enough. We ordered because it looks so nice from the photo posted in the shop but you know, pictures can be rather deceiving. Anyway, the rice was aint that bad. Add more salt..then it would be better~

Credits given to the interior. I like the wall! Feel as though you are back to the 60s~

No more already...aih!

Let me show you something different from the typical 'tau sar pheah' you normally buy from Penang. This is different! As much as i love the original 'tau sar pheah', i think the new-face pandan flavour 'tau sar pheah' is very nice. Even better than the original one.

It looks like the same old 'tau sar pheah' but deep inside, it tastes alot nicer!

Let me bite and show you. There, its abit greenish...if you look hard enough..

In case, you want to try also. There...this is the packaging!

According to my mama, there are also other flavours like cappucino, chocolate and bla bla but i haven try them yet coz my mama didnt buy back from Penang.

So if you happen to go Penang, please get me a box of the Pandan flavour 'tau sar pheah' also coz i finished mine at home already! *so sad*
