18th-20th Century

This entry was suppose to be up a long time ago...but due to my laziness..there has been delay..so here it is...
another execellent makan place in Taman Tun (TTDI)..18th - 20th Century...

altho d interior looks alil like those of d kopitiams,u've to see it to feel it...

we ordered a couple of really sumptious food from the set lunch menu..to begin with the set lunch has about 10 choices of main course with appetizers, drink n dessert..even before we start,
we had to crack our brain to select our choice as all d name of the dishes were equally tempting.

hail the dishes...

1st..the appetizers..altho they came in pretty small portion on big plates..they practically justify
themselves with your first bite..if that make sense to you..haha

fried wanton

fried spring roll...yum yum..

d drink of d day was syrup with cincau..credits given cos d taste was just nice..not too sweet..

main dish everyone...

spicy seafood spagethi...

me n a couple of other colleagues ordered this dish...omg its jus so yummylicious...even when i think of it now..im about to drool..the seafood..were juicy prawns, sum fish fillets n sotong..
d sauce is superbly creamy..i could have clean up the entire plate spotless clean..haha..but d
tiny bit of disappoinment may have been d spicy part..altho d name suggest it to be a spicy meal
it certainly lack the spiceness..so there goes the oomph...

pad thai kuey teow...

i think it meant pattaya kuey teow..din really tasted it..but colleague says that its equally mouthwatering...haha..n d kuey teow is fried with peanuts..alil..interesting...

last came the dessert..which we din quite expected...haha

vanilla ice cream on brownie...

simply brilliant to end our mini feast..haha..we left the place with a very satisfied appetite n we did
not burn a hole in our pocket when we paid the bill..its fun to have a great deal of a set lunch which
cost below 20bucks..definitely worth trying..haha..

in short d set lunch come in quite a variety..fusion of eastern n western food in short..my colleagues told me that the set lunch here is definitely a good catch..cos d ala carte dishes they serve during the nite mayb alil pricy..

went to the past..back to the future wit a full tummy...haha

Danny & Partners is beind Klang Parade, and near Central Char chan teng. it serves western food.. like burgers, sandwiches, pasta, chicken n fish stuffs, coffees, blablabla..

it's interior is nice n contemporary.. painted in dark pink with glass table tops and black chairs, some brownish..they provide chinese n english magazines monthly.. they have most major mags.. even harpers :)

they provide kinda good service but sometimes some are quite blur..
and good thing is that they do not charge any service / govt. tax .. tsk tsk tsk

cause their food are kinda reasonable, in price and in portion

ok.. no more talking..

fried rice
the name's "across the boundary"

but it's actually .. thai-styled fried rice we presumed..
cause it has pineapple chunks.. onions and tomatos..the portion's like SUPER HUGE.. enough for 2 actualy ..

chicken cordon bleu
this is Chicken Cordon Bleu.. yahoo yummmyyy
chicken cordon bleu

t's cheese wrapped in ham slices.. then wraped with chicken meat.. then fried with breadcrumbs...
served with potato salad and lettuce.. heh
the potato salad here .. is just heavenly !!!!

ok this place is recommended lah if u happen to drop by klang.. and feel like eating some westernfood.. ahah
besides .. the pasta carbonara is good.. the chicken dishes.. which i cant remember..
some side dishes which are good as well.. like calamari, potato salad, flap-jack... lots..

carbonara II

i attempted on making carbonara again

i woke up pretty early the other day .. like .. 730am

but i had brunch at 10 something
so.. i decided to make omelette since i have the stuffs

but i tot.. this is not filling enough, so i decided to make a small portion of carbonara

i used spirals this time

carbonara

i just used my instinct while cooking the carbonara.. like .. no measurement or no recipe or no nothing .. i just ... put in what i think it should be in and should taste like.. :P

i boiled the pasta till it's done..

then i sautee the mushrooms and sausages .. then i add in pasta
then i pour in milk.. waited like maybe .. 1 minute for it to simmer abit.. then i added grated cheese to make the sauce like thick n sticky
added black pepper for taste..
then stir n stir till i think it's done.. ahahha

and yeah.. my .. it tasted good !!
sorry i'm not bragging but it does taste good and nicer than my first attempt .. because i did not use eggs this time :P

cheers :)

Restaurant Joo Bee @ Sekinchan

hey if u ask me where exactly Sekinchan is, i dont know because for all i know it's near kuala selangor, from klang town, u turn in to Kapar road.. then go straight .. pass a dozen of mosques and a million traffic lights.. then u reach a paddy field area.. then that's sekinchan.. haha..

(ok.. not that good in geography anyway..)

so this restaurant joo bee... (lets call it Joo Bee). my dad hired them to cook the wedding banquet during my sister's wedding years back .. it's cheap, delicious and.. cheap..

the journey there was rather uneasy.. (taht's because of the people sitting in it..)anyway, it's suppose to be a 1 1/2 hour journey ride only. but because there's malay town along.. so somehow it was kinda jam.. so we took like.. about 2 - 2 1/2 hours to reach that freaking place..

paddy field

this is the paddy fiel i'm tlaking about.. it seems like acres n acres n acres of it... never ending!! so it was only green, then blue n white.. such a nice scenary ...
so when u're here ... u're almost at sekinchan already ...

nice ain't it ??

joo bee

there were 10 of us.. no.. 11.. 9 adults, 1 kid and 1 baby

we ordered like .. 8 dishes !! mostly seafood...
first up

fried prawn
fried prawn with sweet and sour sauce,(above) and green vegetables with cashewnutvegetable

steam fish
steam fish with lemon grass n preserved vegetables (above) and claypot eelseel

crab
Huey Jim (in hokkien) it's a type of crab.. well .. direct translation would be flower crab.. i dont know what's the exact word for it ...

salted chicken
salted chicken (above) and butter mantis prawn
mantis prawn

there's another dish of eel, but i forgot to take the picture.. hehe
but it was called "kung pou eel"

my .. the food was brilliant!!! everything was goood ...till the end.. ahhaa
and it only came up to RM170 ...
cheap right !??!!?

the journey was like damn fat but it was worth the trip :P

then on the way back we stopped by at the road side to buy some mangoes n corns

so i couldnt resist taking more pictures of the paddy field.. i mean.. how often do u see a paddy field when u're not staying in Kedah or what ... more over a GREEN paddy field..

kids fishing at the small river next to the paddy field (i love this photo)

paddy field
beeaauuutifuuuuullll

this was nearer to the main road, so there were a few kampung houses

well.. signing off ,

Banana Walnut basic muffins

i think i'm starting to get addicted to cupcakes / muffins..
i find them cute and the baking time is shorter...

this ones very easy and simple to make.. there isnt much ingredients.. just the basic ones..
i did not make the topping for it... but i included the recipe n ingredients for the topping so that u can make it if u want. :)

well anyway here's the recipe first..

2 cups (300g) self-raising flour
1cup (150g) plain flour
1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
1 cup (200g) firmly packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups (375ml) milk
3/4 cup (180ml) vegetable oil

1 cup mashed overripe banana
1 cup (120g) finely chopped walnuts

Topping
1/4 cup(50h) firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 cup (35g) plain flour
40g butter

banana walnut muffin

Preheat oven to moderately hot (180-190 C). Grease muffin pans.
Sift dry ingredients into large bowl, stir in combined eggs, milk and oil.
Stir banana and half of the walnuts into the muffin mixture. Sprinkle muffins with remaining walnuts and topping.
For topping, combine sugar and flour in small bowl; rub in butter
Bake in moderately hot oven about 20 minutes

Makes: 30 (depending on size of muffin cups..)

i did not make the topping.. so i just added icing sugar ontop ...
and one of them came up VERY HIGH . eheheh
see.. compared to the others..hahaha..

next time u can roast the walnut first before adding it to the mixture.. just like cook it with a lil butter or something... i think with choco chips .. would be perfect.. hahahahaha

(anything with chocolate will be nice.. haha)

this recipe is super easy!!! and if u wanna substitute the banana walnut mixture to something else..
u can add apple with cinnamon ...
or blueberry.. as u wish.. hehehe ...

Dome

i was hopping to eat the pie.. but they told me there isnt any pie for thatday .. pfff
so yeah we surfed thru the menu and see if there's any other stuffs to eat ..

mel saw this and decided to order it..
so she had Soup, Spicy Chicken & Mushroom PAsta and Iced Lemon tea

mushroom soup

melisa enjoying her soup.. yummm

the mushroom soup was great .. it's made of assorted mushrooms thats' why the taste is very .. mushroom-y.. it's thick and great in flavour ... thumbs up .. yay!

this was the Spicy Chicken & Mushroom Pasta
Chicken and mushroom in a spicy n creamy sauce served with Linguine
em.. to be honest.. there wasn't much taste.. it's kinda stale and blend..
not spicy too ...
maybe the mushroom soup was too strong and it covered the taste of this.. but em.. still there wasnt much taste ...
thumbs down!

then because there wasnt any pie.. i asked the waiter to reccomend .. so he suggested Herb Crust Chicken. so.. ok.. i ordered.. hahaha.. with Cranberry Cooler

waited for quite some time the my food .. i was darn hungry already  =.=

cranberry cooler
Cranberry Cooler - Cranberry Juice, Apple Juice & Sprite

herb crust chicken
surprise surprise.. the chicken's in heart shape!! hahaha

closer look.. haha.. cute leh ..

it's Chicken breast coated with herbs and spices. Served with pasta, chili salsa and sauteed vegetables ... yummy-licious.. thumbs up .. it was good that the herbs flavour wasnt that strong or else i'll be jelak by it.. the pasta was ok.. the chicken was nicely done.. breast meat.. u know some times it can get to dry.. but i was good.. the only thing wrong with it was the chilli salsa thingy.. it went a lil too salty.. haha... the sauteed brocolli were nice. soft n tender.. har har har .. i like broccolis if theyre not too hard .. i like the ones in Dome and Ikea Cafe. :P

eating happily.. hahaha

so yeah... dining at dome could be quite costly sometimes .. but the food was good... heh ... and the environment's very relaxing ... ha.. i've sure u've been to Dome before la..

ok so we went jalan jalan at some places ...
hopped into MPH.. i was looking for the How To Be a Domestic Goddess by Nigella Lawson but they seemed to be out of stock pppfff =_=
but i saw Nigella Bites by .. Nigella Lawson lah of course ..
i was comparing it with some of Jamie Olivers cookbook ..
in the end i bought Nigella Bites because the dishes were simpler and the ingredients were easier to get here ... compared to Jamie Olivers Happy Days and other titles ...
but Nigella Bites was rather costly.. RM 119... =.=" ..... ppfffff

and then because women's weekly mini cookbook were having some promotion . buy 2 free 1 . .so i bought 2 .. and mel bought another 1 .. so it's only RM5.30 per book.. hahaha cheap ?! yes ...

nigella lawson
cookbooooooooks... *bows*

so came back.. helped mum to prepare dinner ..
made grilled chicken wings.. :P

i added a few slices of oranges at the bottom of the chicken wings.. and then because they were marinated a few days ago... i didnt quite add other sttuffs.. just added some bbq sauce, olive oil and rosemary before putting it into the oven..
u can actually BBQ your chicken on top of Oranges, Lemons or PassionFruits... then it'll add some summery zing to it.. hahaha

then my mum made honey lemon chicken

ha ... nice ?

another mouth-watering entry coming up ..
we went to Sekinchan to eat .. haha... well... next time!
