yay! another new cheesecake.. u know, if cheesecake is NOT a fattening thing.. i wouldnt mind making and eating them everyday. i just love cheesecake. baked or non-baked.. hahaha so this time, i made Strawberry Cheesecake. with fresh strawberries. not the jam or what..
anyway, the cake was good, just that it was a bit soft n creammy.. maybe too much yogurt or whipping cream .. or maybe not enough of gelatine.. but.. hey.. cheesecakes can never go wrong in my house.. haha they seem to finish very fast.. because i'm the cheesecake specialist in the house... *hahahahaha rofl* actually because i'm the only one that bakes cheesecakes.. my mum cooks very delicious dishes... and my sis dont cook ... so... they have like a fresh bakery store at the kitchen.. ahhaha.. so nice eh??

i accompanied Jia and YMei to shop for their working clothes. ha. my working era just passed not long ago, so i know exactly how they feel when they're shopping for the clothes. ok so anyway, we hoped to MidValley hoping to get some good deals (well, actually, jia didnt get much, but yeemei got quite a few, and.. well.. haha, i got some stuffs too because womens secret was on sale. yes, like 50-60%.. heh) as usual, we always have brunch before we start our shopping, so, after some head-cracking moments of thinking of what to indulge, we decided to settle for Madam Kwan's.. Madam Kwan. The restaurant's swank interior belies the fact that it serves good `ol hawker fare along side Western favourites. Nasi Lemak, Curry Laksa, Mushroom Chicken Mee, Nasi Bojari, Beef Rendang, Curry Fish Head, Assam Prawns, Chicken Chop, Sambal Petai, Cendol, Ice Campur, Bubur Cha Cha.
*quoted from kuali.com*
Jia n YM ordered Asam Laksa..
the claimed that it was good, furthermore, they were quite generous about the "heh koh"'s serving. haha.. look, put as much as u want!! hehe
while i ordered nasi bojari. prawn, fried chicken, beef rendang / chicken curry and spiced indonesian rice. ok, i think this dish is very very very filling. it's quite pricey too. but i like the prawn, the... well actually everything. haha. the chicken was still tender and juicy. the chicken curry was good, well the beef rendang might have tasted better but i dont take beef so... yeah. but i think i still prefer the Nasi Lemak, maybe because of the rice. haha i like the interior deco of Madam Kwan's restaurant, especially the hexagon tiles.. nice.. i dindt take any picture of it, and i cant find it over the net too .. so, well.. |

yesterday mum said her throat isn't feeling right..felt like she was going to fall sick..so she headed to the kitchen to boil her "miracle drink" granny's ginger drink.. this is not any of those tongkat ali stuff just incase you are wondering..just some grandma's recipe which is quite beneficial to one's body..kinda like keeps the body warm..regulate blood flows..brings out those trapped air in the body..mum says its a vitalising drink..so it's up to you to try and believe..
so the recipe is really simple..
ingredients..
*500g of ginger
* 1litre of water
* brown sugar @ gula melaka
methods..
1. pound those gingers a little just that break 'em up and set aside.
![]() ![]() 2. put the water to boil.
3. place ginger into boiling water and continue to boil for an hour.
4. after an hour and the ginger aroma can be sensed..add it brown sugar @ gula melaka to taste.
5. leave to boil for another 10 mins or so for the sugar to melt and it's ready to be serve.
Note: Serve while it's hot..
yesterday was a pretty cold night..so after taking a few cups of this ginger drink..it felt really good..mum on the other hand..couldnt stop burping and was making frequent trips to the loo.. so..would you try?? |
We found KLUANG STATION in 1-Utama..not too long ago..yeaps..the train station's cafe that is..yet another kopitiam-style eatery which incorporates a pinch of train station's decor into the cafe/kopitiam..gosh its getting really difficult to categorized these makan places now days... The cafe's design or layout does not boast creativity, it's just very simple..the main colour for the walls are white, and the cashier area had this wire fence thingy..lets just say it pretty much gave me an impression of a police station rather than a train station..The few clues that gave us some ideas that we were actually in a station were some images of rail tracks on the wall.. Back to food matters..The cafe offers a rather simple menu..which is good in a way..at least you dont have to scratch your head for too long..the food are pretty much local and kopitiam delicacies..from hot and cold drinks like coffee, limau ais, teh tarik to toasts, rice and nooddles..
So here are some of the stuff that we feast upon... The currypuff came alil cold (not warm) and a bit pricy for its size..but overall its edible..hehe
![]() my plain nasi lemak
The nasi lemak was great..just nice..the sambal tasted unique..very aromatic..hehe..and the chicken.yum yum..it was a rather big portion..smooth..tender..juicy..i should have order the one with chicken too..
Bravo..bravo..definitely a must try if you are there..
![]() d kaya n butter toast What's going to a kopitiam or cafe without trying the toast..it's the best way to find for the best..however, i have to say that the toast here is not very impressive..the bread itself was rather cold and rubbery..no usual crisp..we tasted more butter than kaya..n the butter doesnt melt in your mouth..that's abit of a disapponiment..
All in, it's quite a good spot to get a quick bite and rest those tired legs after the first half of your shopping session..hehe..n when the tummy is full n the legs energized..its time to shop again.. |
