we went to this Japanese restaurant in Bukit Tinggi, Klang called Kyoto Ramen. well, by the name, u could guess that it specialises in japanese food. like ramen. (duh)
see the big eyed logo.. hahha
*Sorry for the poor quality* ... the set lunch that they're offering now.
sorry for the size again... japanese spices...
mel settled for Kimuchi ramen and hot green tea. see that .. cute... sadle?!? AHAHHAHAHA
Kimuchi Ramen . ramen with spicy korean vegetables
Mel indulging her bowl of hot spicy sour-ish ramen... yumm
while i chose cold green tea and chicken teriyaki set. (which was a good deal anyway)
CHicken Teriyaki Set : (clockwise) Chicken in teriyaki sauce, fresh salad, 3 slices of green apples, miso soup, cold unagi, pickles, japanese rice
staple food for most chinese n japanese. rice
the food's quite reasonable and they dont have service tax or govt tax, the service was good also, the waitress explained everything on the menu.. ahhahaha for the Kimuchi Ramen, it's RM 13.90 and for the Chicken Teriyaki set, it's RM 16.90.. but its really big in portion.. and taste good too !! but the thing is, they close at 3pm and opens again at.. 5pm or 6pm.. and odd people like us eats lunch at 2pm.. ahah... so we dint hang out long there ...

it was quite a spontaneous baking session..i found some recipes online and thought of trying it..while deb on the other hand did her signature cheesecake..chin hun was just helping us out here and there..she was our multi-purpose helper of the day..hehe..
there was quite a number of panic moments yesterday..but it all turn out good..first it was the ingredients for the crust..i needed shortening (i didn't know what it was at 1st) and i did not buy it..so when i arrived at deb's place..i panic and searched frantically online for a crust recipe.. Apple Crumble Pie Ingredients:
Arrange apple slices in unbaked pie shell. Mix 1/2 cup sugar and the cinnamon; sprinkle over apples. Mix 1/3 cup sugar with flour; cut in butter until crumbly. Spoon mixture over apples. Bake at 400 for 35-40 minutes, or until done. Crust Ingredients: Directions: a smooth ride in the kitchen while preparing all the ingredients turn into havoc when the crust mixture turn ugly..instead of adding 1/2cup of butter we added 1 1/2cup of it..due to *ahem's reading error..haha..the dough look like a lump of ugly fat..
because it was our first time making a pie dough..well, that did not turn out all pretty too.. then..the apples that i bought turn out to be too many..haha..and it ended up in the pie as cubes instead of slices.. but at the end of the day..the apple pie turn out ok..nothing great..but it was an apple pie..hehe..it smelt really good though..
The verdict: So much for our first attempt..but it was fun.. cheers.. |

Hi, Im back! Im sure you dont realise that im away from this blog site for some time *How sad* Anyway, i didnt go for holiday trips or even try abandoning this site. I was just busy with my working life. Im a free labour, you see...And I just finished watching 32 episodes of TVB drama series in 2 days! Gosh..What a marathon! Anyway, while i was away from here, i didnt retire from my kitchen. Occasionally, i made small small things to kill my time and also to fill my tummy. That explains the 'expanding' tummy. My small cousin even touched my tummy and said i had a baby! He is such a bad boy! Alright, back to the main point. Suddenly ..Lately, i had the urge to make cookies. I think making cookies is very fun. Even better than baking cakes or even cooking real meals. Probably because i bought a set of cookie cutters. Hehe.. Let's see what i've got here:
Okay, three types of cookies made in one night, after work. If you know me well, you wouldnt be surprised because when i wanna do something, i wouldnt bother or even care or even think of the consequences if it is not a big matter. So, this was no exception. I eagerly made three types of cookies because i wanted to make all the three types but i couldnt decided which one to make first and so, i ended up with them three.
Its the summer version of orange shortbread. Who says shortbread can only look innocent - only round in shape? They can even look very summer-ish. I think it shapes like coconut trees. Not magic wands; according to one of my friends. Too much of Harry Potter perhaps.
This is the greentea cookies. I haven told you that im a big fan of green tea right? Oh, i love green tea ice-cream! Especially those serve with red bean! yum yum...I love drinking green tea and of course, i love green tea cakes. Green tea flavoured nougat taste great too! I think anything with green tea is very good! Oh ya, someone said the cookies look like cauliflower! Its ice cream in shape!
Lastly, the coffee cookies. Simple. I couldnt decide on coffee or chocolate so i asked my mom to decide for me. She said coffee. Its the wedding bell saped cookie cutter. Well, maybe its not wedding bell. Maybe its school bell. HAha.. Im Lovin' Them... |

just this afternoon, i went to my aunty's house to teach her how to make cheesecake. and she wanted to make other cakes as well. so we stopped by the bakery store.. to find.. there's NO MORE CREAM CHEESE .... wtf.. they always run out of stock.. but luckily i still have a 250gm of cream cheese at home .. and we bought a chocolate sponge cake mix also.. then we made the cheesecake loh.. then there were too much of the chocolate sponge cake mixture, we made 2 of it ... then i bought back 1.. because if not.. they would have 3 cakes.. and my aunt asked me to bring back one.. mmm.. so.. i brought back.. a chocolate sponge cake with sliced almonds.. i cut it open in half.. and spreaded some raspberry jam in it... then made some chocolate ganache.. and poured on top.. tada.. another new cake.. ;p
tee tee tuu tuu taa taa tii tii tuu tuu... nice nice... Recipe : 250gm Chocolate Sponge Cake Mix 8 eggs 100ml water 100ml oil sliced almonds ( or walnuts) (the one above is only half of the recipe) Raspberry jam (or any jam u like) ganache 125g baking chocolate 60g butter 1. beat the eggs till smooth, add water and oil and beat 2. add in the flour mixture slowly, and continue beating.. 3. pour in a 8" or 9" cake pan (or any desired size) and bake for 40 minutes at 170 C. (this is for the cake above. if your cake mixture is thicker, bake longer) 4. check if it's done with a wooden chopstick or a skewer. 5. chill it.. and spilt it in the middle. spread some jam in it 6. spread the chocolate topping on top. 7. decorate as u wish ganache 1. melt the butter, then add the chocolate. 2. turn off fire, stir constantly till its thick n creamy enjoy! |

yay! another new cheesecake.. u know, if cheesecake is NOT a fattening thing.. i wouldnt mind making and eating them everyday. i just love cheesecake. baked or non-baked.. hahaha so this time, i made Strawberry Cheesecake. with fresh strawberries. not the jam or what..
anyway, the cake was good, just that it was a bit soft n creammy.. maybe too much yogurt or whipping cream .. or maybe not enough of gelatine.. but.. hey.. cheesecakes can never go wrong in my house.. haha they seem to finish very fast.. because i'm the cheesecake specialist in the house... *hahahahaha rofl* actually because i'm the only one that bakes cheesecakes.. my mum cooks very delicious dishes... and my sis dont cook ... so... they have like a fresh bakery store at the kitchen.. ahhaha.. so nice eh??
